PURPOSE: As part of a continuing effort to promote performance skills among student musicians, the PEI Registered Music Teachers’ Association sponsors student recitals during the year. This series of recitals provides student musicians with the opportunity to gain performance experience in a supportive environment and to prepare for various music festivals and exams. Any Prince Edward Island music student may participate.

♫ Performer fees and audience admission help to cover the cost of venue rental and other recital expenses.

♫ Repertoire up to RCM Level 7:  $5.00 per piece/movement ($7.00 for students of non-members).

♫ Repertoire RCM Level 8 and above: $7.00 per piece/movement ($10.00 for students of non-members).

Duets: Students split the entry fee.

Multiple entries: Students pay for each piece or movement on the program. Example: A PEIRMTA member student playing 2 pieces at RCM Level 6 pays $10 and a PEIRMTA member student playing 2 movements of an RCM Level 10 sonata or concerto would pay $14.

♫ Fees are to be paid at the door by the student on the day of the recital. Those paying by cash are encouraged to bring exact change. Cheques are payable to PEIRMTA.

♫ $5.00 admission for audience members (no charge for children 12 and under), payable at the door.

HOW TO REGISTER: Teachers can register their students using the online form. Entries received after the deadline may be accepted if there is time remaining on the recital program.

CANCELLATION: Any performer who is unable to attend the recital should notify the recital coordinator as soon as possible before the recital day.

The performance fee is due for any names remaining on the program on the day of the recital, payable by the teacher of that student.

DETAILS FOR PERFORMERS: Each recital will be limited to 45 minutes of music. If necessary, there will be more than one recital per date to accommodate larger numbers of applicants. A student may play more than one piece or a multi-movement work as long as the performance fee is paid for each piece/movement. Repeats are to be omitted; however, the repetition of short sections may be observed to preserve the structure of the composition. All Da Capos and Dal Segnos should be observed. Performers should plan to arrive in at the hall at least 5 minutes before the recital start time.

Any inquiries or concerns regarding these recitals should be directed to the series coordinator: Stephanie Cole (902.626.6524)
